How the Egypt 2026 calculation works

  • Insurable wage — your gross, clamped to the EGP 2,700–16,700 band.
  • Employee social insurance — 11% of the insurable wage, deducted from pay.
  • Income tax — progressive brackets (0% to 27.5%) on annual income after the EGP 20,000 exemption and the social-insurance deduction, divided by 12.
  • Employer cost — the company also pays 18.75% of the insurable wage, on top of the gross.

Frequently asked questions

How is net salary calculated in Egypt in 2026?

Net pay is gross salary minus the employee social-insurance share (11% of the insurable wage, capped at EGP 16,700/month) and monthly income tax, which is calculated on annual income after a EGP 20,000 personal exemption and the social-insurance deduction.

Is social insurance calculated on my full salary?

No. It is charged on the insurable wage, which is capped between EGP 2,700 and EGP 16,700 per month in 2026. Above the cap, contributions are based on EGP 16,700, not your full gross.

How much does an employee really cost the employer?

On top of the gross salary, the employer pays 18.75% of the insurable wage as its own social-insurance contribution. The calculator shows this and the total monthly cost of the hire.

Are these figures official?

They reflect the 2026 income-tax brackets, the EGP 20,000 exemption, and the 2,700–16,700 insurable-wage band from public sources (Andersen, PwC, Mercans). They are for guidance — confirm your exact payroll with your accountant or the Egyptian Tax Authority.
