Face Check-In for Employee Attendance in Egypt: How It Works

10/10/2026

Think about your sign-in sheet. It shows that someone signed. It does not show who. A colleague can sign for you, and at month-end HR counts the late days by hand.

Short answer: face check-in records an employee's attendance by matching their face when they check in at a company location. It replaces paper sheets and shared cards, and it feeds the same attendance record HR uses for shifts, corrections and payroll.

Here is how it works, a four-week rollout, and four awkward cases to sort out before you start.

How it works, start to payslip

Five steps. HR does the first three once.

1

Set up locations

Add each place employees check in: an office, a branch or a site.

2

Set up shifts

Define working hours, so a check-in is compared with the expected time.

3

Enrol each employee

HR enrols the employee's face once, with the employee present.

4

Employees check in

At their location, the system matches their face.

5

HR reviews and corrects

Missed or wrong check-ins are corrected by HR, and the correction is recorded.

One day, one employee (example)

TimeWhat happens
08:52Sara arrives at the branch and checks in. Matched, on time.
17:05She checks out. Her hours are recorded.
Month-endHer late days, absences and approved leave are already on the record payroll reads. Nothing is re-typed.

Sara is an example, not a real employee. How many check-in locations you can use depends on your plan. See current pricing.

What employees ask

"What if the camera does not recognise me?"
HR corrects the record by hand and the correction is logged. You do not lose the day.

"Is this to watch us all day?"
Check-in happens at a company location, when the employee checks in. Say that plainly in your announcement.

"What if I forget to check in?"
It will happen in week one. Decide the rule now (see below), so every miss is not a message to HR.

A four-week rollout

Small steps. Do not switch everyone on day one.

1

Week 1: Plan

List locations and shifts. Decide the late rule and who approves corrections.

2

Week 2: Tell and enrol

Explain what changes and why. Enrol the first group, one location at a time.

3

Week 3: Run both

Run face check-in beside the old method. Compare the records every day.

4

Week 4: Switch

Switch off the old method. Fix the rules behind the corrections.

Decide these before go-live

Write one rule for each case, so HR is not deciding one by one.

F

Employee forgets to check in

Who corrects the record, and within how many days?

C

Work at a client site

A client site is not a company location. How is attendance recorded and approved for those days?

E

Shift starts before opening

Which time counts as the start of the shift?

N

New hire before enrolment

What is the interim method, and who enrols them?

Face check-in and payroll

Attendance only matters if it reaches payroll. In The Five HR, attendance, leave and payroll sit in one workspace, so late days, absences and approved leave are on the same record that payroll reads.

Face check-in in Egypt: quick answers

How does face check-in work for employee attendance?

The employee checks in at a company location and the system matches their face to the one enrolled by HR. The check-in is saved on their attendance record.

Who enrols an employee's face?

HR enrols the employee once, with the employee present. After that the employee can check in on their own.

What happens if a check-in is missed or wrong?

HR corrects it. The correction is recorded so there is a history of what changed.

How long does a rollout take?

For a small team, four weeks is sensible: set up, enrol, run beside the old method, then switch.

Does face check-in work with payroll?

Yes. Attendance, leave and payroll are in one workspace, so attendance data reaches payroll without re-typing.
